COOLANT

Keep your engine from overheating with an inspection and a coolant / antifreeze flush and fill.

Are coolant flushes important?

A coolant flush is an important part of preventive maintenance. You may be under the impression that occasionally adding antifreeze and water to your radiator to replace evaporated fluid is all the maintenance your car's cooling system needs. If so, you're wrong.

Your cooling system is what keeps your car from overheating, by circulating a mixture of water and coolant through the engine. Over time this mixture becomes contaminated with scale and rust, which can clog and damage the cooling system. A cooling system flush will clean out the entire system of contaminants and replace the coolant mixture with fresh coolant and water.

Does your engine run hotter than normal just after starting it?

Does the temperature slowly creep higher and higher as you drive down the road?

Does your low coolant sensing light come on?

Do you detect an odor that’s a little like boiling maple syrup or see green or orange fluid pooling beneath your vehicle?

These are sings of leakage, come in and have a highly trained BLAKE’S Auto Center technician inspect your vehicle for leaks or other possible causes for the low coolant level.  Follow the service maintenance schedule provided by the manufacturer to get the coolant replaced at regular intervals. In general, it is a good practice to change the coolant every 40,000-50,000 miles.

A coolant flush and fill is basic maintenance for your cooling system, and will help ensure maximum performance from your car's heating and cooling systems. A coolant flush and fill will also prevent overheating - the most common cause of breakdowns and internal engine damage.

Cooling System Flush and Fill

A BLAKE’S Auto Center coolant service starts with an examination of your radiator and engine cooling system. Then, old antifreeze / coolant is removed from your radiator and replaced with new antifreeze / coolant per your vehicle manufacturer's recommendations.
